Catch a Wave: The Art of Surf Culture

Dick Dale, King of the Surf Guitar (2011). Digital projection, 90 min.

Ride the epic wave of international surf culture as we present three films in this series, including the world premiere of Matt Marshall’s documentary, Dick Dale, King of the Surf Guitar. Ten years in the making, this intimate portrait explores the creative process of the pioneering midcentury rock artist, whose scorching guitar runs gave birth to surf music, and provided the opening sonic thrill of Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction three decades later.

Other films in this series include:

September 8: The Endless Summer
September 15: Pacific Vibrations
